Royal Standard Kniphofia
A real standout in the summer garden, Royal Standard produces 6-10 flower spikes on 3-4' stems. The spikes consist of red buds that open to yellow flowers. At peak bloom, the top 1/3 of the spike is red and the bottom 2/3 is yellow. Each spike lasts nearly 3 weeks, and blooming occurs from early to late summer in sunny garden areas. Needs well-drained soil. Drought tolerant and pest resistant. Zones 5-8.
